It is a least restrictive, privacy-first solution that operates passively and does not require a person to press buttons, wear devices, or consent to visual monitoring. It enables carers to act in an individual’s best interest by providing early insight into risks like falls, restlessness, or behavioural changes, without compromising dignity or autonomy.
Is Silver Shield compliant with GDPR and data protection laws?
Yes.
Silver Shield is designed with data minimisation and privacy by default. It does not record images, video or audio. The system uses non-identifiable radar data to detect motion and status (e.g. in bed, out of bed, potential fall) and all information is securely encrypted and only accessible by authorised users.
Will I need to update care plans or DoLS assessments to include Silver Shield?
In most cases, yes – and we make this simple.
Silver Shield is considered a non-intrusive, low-restriction safety measure. We recommend it is documented in care plans and DoLS/LPS assessments as a proportional safeguard, especially for individuals who may lack capacity. We can provide templated wording, rationale, and guidance to make this quick and compliant.
